GT-0096 | Vintage Whiting & Davis Black Metal Mesh Lucite Handle Handbag

This is a great vintage find. The interior tag confirms Whiting & Davis Co. Mesh Bags — Made in U.S.A. The black enamel-coated metal mesh has that signature slinky chainmail construction, paired with a structured black Lucite-style top handle and snap-flap closure.

The structured rectangular shape gives it a classic mid-century evening/cocktail look, while the all-black finish makes it very wearable today. Interior is black fabric lined with a small pocket.

Era: Likely mid-century, approximately 1950s–1960s. Comparable Whiting & Davis Lucite-handle mesh bags are commonly dated to this period.
